The Medical Technician will serve as a phlebotomist, specimen processor, and customer service support in Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service. The Medical Technician provides both clinical and administrative support to the laboratory and VA providers while performing a range of diagnostic laboratory support duties such as venipuncture for collection of blood specimens and collection/acceptance of other body fluids such as urine, stool, or sputum. Major duties include but not limited to: Responsible for proper patient identification, proper sample procurement, and proper specimen labeling following guidelines from accrediting agency regulations and standards.
