PCS FAQ 2026
What is the PCS process in 2026?
The 2026 PCS (Permanent Change of Station) process starts when you receive orders. Key steps: confirm your RNLTD date, calculate BAH, apply for housing, book your HHG shipment through DPS (move.mil), complete out-processing at your losing installation, and in-process at your new installation within 30 days of arrival.
How far in advance should I start planning my PCS?
Start planning 90–120 days before your report date. The most critical early actions are: booking your HHG shipment through DPS (fills up fast in summer), applying for on-base housing (long waitlists), and registering for the CDC childcare waitlist if you have young children.
What documents do I need for a PCS move?
Essential PCS documents: orders (bring 10+ copies), military ID cards for all family members, passports, birth certificates, Social Security cards, marriage certificate, vehicle title, medical and dental records, school records for children.
