About the Position: As a First Mate, Towboat or Pilot, Towboat, assigned to the Dredge Jadwin (Sanderford), the incumbent serves as an apprentice or pilot on an inland waterways towboat. NOTE: The duty location of this position is wherever the Dredge Jadwin is located. Serve as an Apprentice Mate (Steersman) on an inland waterways towboat. Learn towboat handling and channel navigation procedures particular in navigating the towboat and its tows. Stands a regular watch and assist in piloting and navigating in order to develop basic skill and ability. Operate the controls governing the navigation of the vessel. Move empty and loaded barges, shifts fleet barges and plant, lines up tow and secure for pick-up by tender.
